The Zilker Botanical Gardens and Zilker Park Soccer Field projects were performed under Arizpe’s M.E.P. rotation list contract with the City of Austin.

Arizpe was commissioned to design a new 8 inch water line to provide water from Town Lake to irrigate the Zilker Park soccer fields. This project investigated the pressure requirements for the irrigation cannon used at the park and alternate routes for the proposed water line. Arizpe engineered the pump house foundation structure and designed the associated mechanical, electrical and plumbing elements to work with the pumps selected by the Parks and Recreation Department. The civil engineering site design included pipe supports for the intake lines, erosion and sedimentation control devices, and an access road to the pump house.

Arizpe performed the civil engineering design and coordinated MEP engineers to design a new water supply line for the visitor’s center building at the Zilker Botanical Gardens. The project was needed to increase the water pressure so the facility could be used year-round and provide the required fire protection. Arizpe also designed a system to deliver non-potable river water to the garden center for irrigation.
