The new Austin Tennis Center called for the design of twelve tennis courts with pro shop, parking lot, utility extensions, electrical power distribution and drainage facilities. The design included provisions for twenty-four additional courts to be built at a later date on the 84 acre undeveloped park site.
Arizpe engineers reviewed the site, survey and geotechnical data and made recommendations for locating the twelve courts and pro shop to optimize the use of the site, taking into consideration the plans for future expansion. The very expansive clay soils for this site were addressed and the appropriate remedies were incorporated into the design of the courts and ancillary structures.
Arizpe also designed the traffic control plans for two utility crossings, taking careful consideration of the school bus traffic for the adjacent Garcia Middle School. The set ups allow for bus turns and emergency traffic access at this point.
