Arizpe was selected for the interior renovation to the public areas of the first floor in the West Campus library. This is the second renovation project the university has undertaken responding to a new generation of group oriented students that are not distracted by the sounds of conversation or digital devices. The primary goal of this renovation is to open up the first floor study areas into interaction areas adding a “cool factor” to encourage the students to stay and linger in the library. This is accomplished by removing full height walls and adding bar height seating as well as lounge furniture with smaller movable tables. In addition to opening up the closed off study room, the renovation includes an update to the finishes in the main entry and office space for the front desk staff, a new circulation desk and reference consultation area.
